  Tuition, Endowment and Student Organization Fees: 2016-2017

  The Board of Governors has approved a tuition fee increase on all program and ancillary fees for 2016-2017; new fee rates have been posted.

  Tuition Fees are assessed by credit hour or as a program fee, depending on your program. In the case of per credit hour tuition, the per credit hour rate is that of the academic unit responsible for teaching the course.

  Students who are covered under another medical plan may choose to decline participation in the University of Manitoba Students’ Union (UMSU) health plan. Further information is available from the UMSU Health Insurance Office.

  Students residing outside of the city limits can opt-out of the U-Pass.

  Tuition & fees

  The cost of your university education may depend on a number of factors:

  Program Choice & Course Load:

  The number of years required for study, textbook requirements, tuition rates and fees will all vary by program. In most areas, your tuition costs will also be determined by the types of courses you take as well as the number of courses you register in.

  Citizenship & Residency:

  Students who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed immigrants of Canada will be assessed a differential fee on their tuition fee (*exemption for Minnesota residents). Other costs will include health insurance and student visa application.

  Notes:

  Dentistry and Dental Hygiene students are also assessed Clinic Consumables and Clinic Instrument Fees (which are variable by year). Refer to Other Compulsory Fees.

  Tuition includes Law Surcharge of $4,678.78 per year ($2,339.39 per term) for Full-Time students and $2,339.39 per year ($1,169.70 per term) for Half-Time students. Visiting law students are assessed $296.95/credit hour (domestic rate) or $726.50/credit hour (international rate).

  Students are assessed $5,000 in the Summer Term preceding Year 3; this amount is applied against the Year 3 program fee.

  Full Year 4 tuition ($8,006.14) is assessed in Winter Term.

  Students in the Dental Hygiene degree completion program are assessed the program tuition fee for each of the first two terms. Students are assessed a Continuing Fee of $556.96 in each term of subsequent study.

  Students who are taking courses offered by the College of Medicine but who are not in the UGME program will be assessed tuition at a rate of $155.14 per credit hour.

  Endowment Fees

  Endowment fees are assessed per credit hour, per term and/or per year, and are based on the academic unit in which you are enrolled.

  Student Organization Fees

  All students who are registered in an on-campus course are assessed a flat UMSU fee regardless of course load (different rate for Bannatyne Campus students), plus a per credit hour or per term fee based on the academic unit in which you are enrolled.
