The title of my speech is "What college education means to me".Nowreflecting on the past two and half years of my college experience, I come torealize how much it has shaped me.

With great vision, college education has equipped me, first with a powerfulpropeller----the sophisticated knowledge in certain field and wide exposure toother disciplines. By dedicating myself to the engineering courses in the dayand immersing myself in the rich banquet of the world literature at night, I'veamassed the driving force for the future and enriched my soul.
首先，具有远见卓识的大学教育为我装配了一只马力强劲的推进器;精深的专业知识及广博的课外知识给我带来无限动力。白天我全神贯注地研习自己的工科课程，晚上则尽情享受世界文学所带来的盛宴，在此过程中，我既为未来积聚了力量，又充实了自己的灵魂。
Besides, college education has also provided me with a precisecompass----the sense of social responsibility. How can I best serve the interestof the public while achieving my self-fulfillment? My one year's experience as apart-time English teacher has testified: to be valuable to society as well as tofind my place, I have to possess some actual strength and the ability tofunction well in the most challenging situation. Amid the hectic schedule thatbalances club activities, sports, and academic courses, I feel the rhythm andbeauty in the intensity of my high-pitched life, knowing that I 'm on the rightway.

对于英语有不少同学烦恼，我们应该如何学好英语？其实要学好英语，并不难，只要我们每天上课认真，把该记忆的词汇都认真记住，打好底子，我们学起来就要容易很多。
我们考试的时候，听力填词或者做题都需要我们掌握词汇，听懂英语。这是一门语言，我们就应该进行练习，多说多看，如果有时间，我们可以看一些英语书籍，锻炼自己的英语学习能力，学习更多的词汇。学习不可能一蹴而就，全靠每天努力学习，我们学习英语的重点分为单词，语法，听力这三方面。
对于单词，我们就应该多记多背，单词需要每天记忆，而且需要重复记忆，如果你当天记住了这个单词，但你却不愿意一直复习，总会有一天忘记。我们除了学习新单词，更要复习已经学过的单词，现在我们需要学习的单词比较少，那我们就应该把他们完全掌握。比如我们每天学习十个单词，两天后我们就必须要再次温习我们学过的单词，如果这样感觉记忆非常累，那么我们可以通过阅读英语文章来加强单词记忆，并且每天坚持，只要我们每天都按时学习，掌握更多的单词我们的基础就能够打牢固，这样就方便了接下来的学习。
掌握了单词后，我们就应该认真学习语法，毕竟西方的说话习惯，与我们不同，而且表达的意思也有出入，我们不但要掌握各种句型，更要明白如何运用，现在有很多有关语法的书籍可以供我们参考，老师上课所讲的语法比较少，我们也可以利用时间多学一些语法，学习语法不但可以让我们掌握英语说话习惯，也能够让我们复习巩固所学的单词。对我们的帮助很大。练习语法的最好办法，就是多做题，通过不同的.题型练习自己的语法熟练度，而且各种语法我们必须要背诵掌握下来，当我们记住的语法多了，习惯成自然，就不会觉得这些语法难以接受。
在英语考试中听力是锻炼我们英语沟通能力，如果我们学习了英语，却不会用英语沟通，而且别人说的英语自己也听不懂，那不是等于没学吗。我们之所以学习英语最主要的目的就是为了更好沟通，所以想要练习自己的听力，我们不但要多听英语磁带，更要多说，要纠正自己的发音，勤学苦练中能够学到更多。每天不能忘记自己的学习任务，坚持学习。可以利用早自习时间好好练习。
其实说来说去都离不开一点，那就是勤奋，学英语要勤奋，而且要学会利用时间，毕竟英语是一门语言，我们要掌握这门语言，就必须要勤加练习，多记多背。

In order to have more fuel people cut down trees and dig more corals. But the growing needs for energy are hardly to meet. Countless private cars on the street the gas stations are short of gasoline even the government has raise the price so many times in order to control the needs of gasoline but it’s still not working. Overusing the natural resources has already affected the ecological balance. However the factories still release the toxic air into the sky and the polluted water into the rivers. People still lack of the conscious of protecting the environment. I think it’s time for all of us to do something.

And we should find the balance between the economic growth and environmental protection. Plant more trees in the deserts and stop cutting down the forest. Forbid the factories to pour the waste water into the rivers directly. Encourage people to use public transportations to work. Both government and ordinary people should join hands together to make our home clean and fresh again. Only in this way our earth could be a better place to live in.

i once came across an american tourist.she said,“china has a history of five thousand years,but the us only has a history of 200 years.five thousand years ago,china took the lead in the world,and now it is the us that is leading.”my heart was deeply touched by these words.it is true that were still a developing nation,but it doesnt mean that we can despise (鄙视) ourselves.we have such a long-standing history,we have such abundant resources,we have such intelligent and diligent people,and we have enough to be proud of.we have reasons to say proudly： we are sure to take the lead in the world in the future again,for our problems are big,but our ambition (雄心) is even bigger,our challenges (挑战) are great,but our will is even greater.i am chinese.i have inherited (继承) black hair and black eyes.i have inherited the virtues of my ancestors.i have also taken over responsibility.i am sure,that wherever i go,whatever i do,i shall never forget that i am chinese!
