For Degree-Seeking Graduate Students
Eligibility
Foreign nationals who have successfully completed the equivalent of 16 years (for Master’s) or 18 years (for Doctor’s) of education or the equivalent. Students who are expected to graduate by March 31 of the year they plan to enter a Japanese university are also eligible.
Selection Method
Students are selected by:
Paper-based examinations
Oral tests conducted by each graduate school
Academic records
Application Documents
Enrollment procedure differs with each Graduate School. For details, make direct contact with the School concerned. In most cases, applicants for admission must submit the following documents:
Completed graduate school application form. (The forms are available at each Graduate School.)
Certificate of Graduation or expected graduation from the university/college the student last attended.
Official transcript from the university/college the student formerly attended, showing the courses taken and the grades received; and a letter of recommendation from the applicant's advisor (professor) at the university/college attended.
Certificate of Japanese language proficiency adequate for graduate studies. (EJU scores)
A statement of research plan including description of the research conducted in the past.
2 passport-size photographs.
Entrance examination fee.
A letter of approval from the university/college the applicant is attending or the office where the applicant is employed.
