The UGA Graduate Admissions specialists evaluate all international credentials in our office; we do not accept evaluation reports from external evaluation agencies. All required academic records must be submitted directly to us.
Admissions Requirements
Graduate Admission to the University of Georgia is a collaborative process involving the Graduate School and the graduate faculty of the University. Each department has a designated graduate coordinator who serves as a liaison between the department and the Graduate School and who provides detailed information about program entry requirements, resources and special opportunities.
Persons holding a baccalaureate degree, or a foreign equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate School.
Applicants should have ranked in the upper half of their undergraduate class and should have completed the equivalent of an undergraduate major in the field in which they propose to study. Application for admission to the Graduate School may be filed in an electronic on-line application. All applicants must provide an active e-mail address for contact regarding application processing.
Certificate of Finances
International applicants recommended for admission, must submit the Certificate of Finances form and supporting documents. The Certificate of Finances form is not required with the initial submission of application materials.
Country-Specific Academic Credentials and Requirements
China
Required Academic Transcript: | Documents must be submitted in both Chinese and English translation. The institution must issue both documents and they (each page) must bear the original red ink stamp or steel seal of the issuing institution. |
Required Proof of Degree: | Graduation certificate must be in Chinese and English translation. They (each page) must bear the original red ink stamp or steel seal of the issuing institution. |
U.S. Bachelor’s Equivalency: | Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. |
TOEFL or IELTS: | Required.
If submitting the TOEFL: a minimum score of 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper-based) or overall score of 80 with at least 20 on speaking and writing (internet-based).
If submitting the IELTS: a minimum overall band-width of 6.5, with no single band (score) below 6.0.

Certified Translations
We do not accept evaluation reports from external evaluation agencies
The translator must be authorized to translate the original language to English
We require an original stamp and signature of the translator
Translations must be word-for-word, not interpretation of the meaning
Photocopied and faxed translations are not accepted
The issuing institution can issue its own translation; it must bear the original stamp of the institution
Official Transcripts
Coursework taken at the tertiary level, which lists the name of the courses, grades, credits and etc.

An award is given after completion of a required course of study.
