BAP100 Acoustics
Sound is explored, both theoretically and practically, providing an understanding of the audio process. Binaural localisation of sound gives a necessary platform from which all further sound mixes, and decisions, will benefit.
BAP120 Business Studies
This paper aims to provide students with the ability to discuss the evolution of the music and recording industry. An in-depth knowledge of the different roles and job descriptions in the music industry. The experience needed to suggest plans and procedures to implement a wide range of projects within the industry. The ability to explain the New Zealand music industry, and its supporting societies and organisations.
BAP125 Electronics
As well as electrical and electromagnetic theory, audio electronics includes the ability to maintain equipment, implement reasonable repairs, and rudimentary circuit construction.
BAP145 Music Technology
Audio technicians work for a significant part of their time with music tracks. This paper develops the student to be at least a rudimentary musician, assuring an acceptable understanding when dealing with the music industry. It is, at times, necessary for sound engineers to follow a manuscript, especially when recording instrumentals as in the case of classical music, subsequently the pursuit of music theory and music history are necessary elements.

Year Two
Semester 1
BAP215 Audio Equipment
This paper is intended to address the critical use of all manner of sound engineering tools, with professional choices made in the application of each device.
BAP235 Information Technology
This paper is intended to address the use of computers in advanced audio situations, multi media situations, as well as small business management, and basic business webpage designing.
BAP230 Industry Studies
Many major audio industry sectors are discussed in depth in this paper, which should become the central focus of study in the second year.
BAP250 Professional Studies
This paper aims to prepare the student for professional practice by presenting research as a uniting strategy for practice, theory and scholarship. Both scientific and interpretative knowledge will be drawn upon in preparing the student to become a competent consumer of research. Students will also be assisted to develop skills as a beginning researcher.
The student will study different types of scientific and interpretative inquiry and personal experience will be used to identify areas in requiring research, and for the utilisation of research findings.
