"I was very nervous and my words just came out wrong," he wrote on Facebook.

The British actor said that his "only intention" had been "to salute (their) incredible bravery and courage."
"I apologise that my nerves got the better of me," his post continued.

After thanking his co-stars and the show's director, he told "a quick story" about a recent visit to "the youngest country in the world".

But wanting to spend every second together could be the death knell for your partner - so don't drop your whole life for them.
Make sure to spend a few nights alone, continue to make time for the things you love and still go out with your friends.

Thirteen years ago, a deadly strain of avian flu known as H5N1 was tearing through Asia's bird populations. In January 2004, Chinese scientists reported that pigs too had become infected with the virus—an alarming development, since pigs are susceptible to human viruses and could potentially act as a "mixing vessel" that would allow the virus to jump to humans.
Yet at the time, little attention was paid outside of China—because the study was published only in Chinese, in a small Chinese journal of veterinary medicine. It wasn't until August of that year that the World Health Organization and the United Nations learned of the study's results and rushed to have it translated.
Those scientists and policy makers ran headlong into one of science's biggest unsolved dilemmas: language. A new study in the journal PLOS Biology sheds light on how widespread the gulf can be between English-language science and any-other-language science, and how that gap can lead to situations like the avian flu case, or worse.

Constructive Actions Hailed in Dealing with Syrian Crisis

On December 19, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted the Resolution 2328 that aims to relieve the humanitarian crisis in Syria and support UN to play a coordinative role in the future. The hard-won consensus is the first one on Syrian crisis adopted by UNSC after months of disagreement.
Humanitarian situation is severe in Syria after six years of turmoil. With basic consensus among members of the UNSC, the UN could have taken actions to relieve the crisis.
However, some countries had politicized the humanitarian issue and ignored other countries’ reasonable concerns. Such practice has detained measures that could have been taken by the UNSC. It was of no benefit for the relief of Syrian humanitarian crisis and hurt the authority of UNSC as well.

Launching a career as a novelist seems like an impossible dream to many — let alone doing so in a second or third language. But that’s exactly what Yiyun Li did after she graduated from college, moving from Beijing to the U.S. to study immunology at the University of Iowa; once there, she wound up honing her fiction-writing skills at the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
In a poignant essay for The New Yorker, Li, now the acclaimed author of several novels and short story collections written entirely in English, meditates on what leaving Chinese behind and embracing a new language has meant for her:
Over the years, my brain has banished Chinese. I dream in English. I talk to myself in English. And memories—not only those about America but also those about China; not only those carried with me but also those archived with the wish to forget—are sorted in English. To be orphaned from my native language felt, and still feels, like a crucial decision.

A New York City restaurant is taking a stab at creating the most decadent pizza on the market with a pie topped in gold flakes, foie gras and even truffles.
The 24K pizza is available at Industry Kitchen, an eatery in New York City's South Street Seaport, for a whopping $2,000 and, as the name would suggest, is noted for being covered in flakes of 24-karat gold.
All held together with imported white stilton cheese, the flakes are interspersed on the pie with dollops of Ossetra caviar from the Caspian Sea as well as truffles and Fois Gras from France.
Sliced into eight pieces, the pizza works out to $250 per slice, meaning it costs roughly $50 per bite.
Talking to Town & Country, Industry Kitchen Executive Chef Braulio Bunay said he was inspired to create the pizza by the city's Financial District, which he described as 'the epitome of decadence'.
Industry Kitchen
'The pizza is extremely rich - if you're in the mood for a lavish meal, this is the pizza for you,' he said.

1. Brag about salary
If your new job has resulted in a significant pay increase, that’s good for you. However, it’s rude and inappropriate to share that information with your new co-workers. So keep your happy news to yourself. Remaining tight-lipped may help you avoid resentment and unnecessary strife.
2. Bad-mouth your former employer
It’s not OK to speak poorly of your former employer. This will leave a very bad impression on your workmates. Even if you worked for the worst company, and you still harbor some resentment, you need to keep quiet about your true feelings. Gossip is just not classy.
3. Express desperation
Even if you were on the brink of losing your home and you just finished clearing out your life savings before getting this job, don’t let everyone in the office know that. Oversharing is unprofessional. It might even cause others to treat you poorly because they’ll know that you would do anything to keep your job because you’re in a financial bind. Just be (quietl...
