小时候严苛的母亲经常用“某某出国留学了”来对我进行说教,从懂事起,读书的终极梦想是留学,留学的终极梦想是移民。时至今日,我依旧羡慕那些漂洋过海的留学生。
30年后,中国留学生在海外的数量井喷,留学逐渐变成了中性词,有时甚至成了贬义词。又到一年开学时,中国的留学生大军又要奔向五洲。有美国媒体报道,对于美国高校来说,国际留学生是金元宝。在美国家长为了孩子的学费捉襟见肘时,高校开始大力招收留学生盈利,特别是中国留学生。新数据显示,2011-2012学年共有76万多名外国留学生在美国读书,来自中国的19万留学生占了总数的1/4。
庞大的数据背后隐藏着尴尬的事实。美国4000多所高校中,能够出现在各种排名榜上的不到1/20。也就是说,美国的知名大学只有200所,大部分中国留学生在毫无名气的美国大学就学。即使是这样,中国的媒体还是揭出了,中国留学生留学美国,有一半的学生难以完成学业的事实。成绩不佳也引出了一些关于中国留学生的丑闻,旷课抄袭、做假文凭、行贿教师等。中国留学生生活中的丑闻也时常见诸报端,有钱的炫富缺少公德,没钱的坑蒙拐骗。有媒体总结了中国“富二代”的留学生活,开豪车、逛夜店、进赌场、时常更换女朋友,作业请“枪手”,实在无聊时,就去学校上几节课。留学生的价值一时间被挥霍殆尽。
