题目
Avionics is a portmanteau word meaning “aviation electronics.” It is a term that has evolved over the last 40 years as airplane instrumentation has evolved from mostly mechanical to largely electronic. Today, avionics makes up the large part of the cost of any aircraft. Guidance and navigation systems are integrated. Communications includes public address systems for communicating with passengers, intercoms for communicating with flight crews, and radio or SatCom for communicating with ground personnel. In addition, planes today have weather radar, lightning detectors, automatic flight control systems, and collision-avoidance systems. All of these systems must work in tandem in order for the plane to fly.
Which of the following inferences about avionics is best supported by the passage?
A. Within a decade, passenger planes will take off and land without human intervention.
B. Soon passenger planes will include features that now appear only on military planes.
C. Just 40 years ago, there were no electronic devices on passenger airplanes.
D. As avionics becomes more common, the cost of manufacturing planes will decrease.
E. A glitch in a plane's electrical system may be the greatest danger in flight today.

The following is part of a memorandum from the president of Humana University.
" Last year the number of students who enrolled in online degree programs offered by nearby Omni University increased by 50 percent. During the same year, Omni showed a significant decrease from prioryears in expenditures for dormitory and classroom space, most likelybecause online instruction takes place via the Internet. In contrast, overthe past three years, enrollment at Humana University has failed to growand the cost of maintaining buildings has increased. Thus, to increaseenrollment and solve the problem of budget deficits at HumanaUniversity, we should initiate and actively promote online degree programs like those at Omni."
Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order todecide whether the prediction and the argument on which it is based are reasonable. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the prediction.

Meltzoff and Moore reported experiments showing that human newborns possess the ability to imitate certain facial expressions, such as a protruding tongue or an open mouth. Yet numerous researchers challenge Meltzoff’s interpretation that such neonatal imitation is the origin of later imitation, which appears at approximately eight to twelve months of age. These researchers point out that the neonatal imitative response disappears or is lessened at approximately two months. Moreover, since in follow-up studies only one type of imitative response toward a facial expression (that is, tongue protrusion) was observed, some researchers assert that neonatal imitation is not imitation at all but may simply be a form of exploratory behavior in response to interesting stimuli.
According to the passage, those who challenge “Meltzoff’s interpretation” do so on the basis that it
A. implies inaccurate predictions
B. lacks testable consequences
C. assumes a discredited theory
D. leaves an unexplained gap
E. involves circular reasoning

Governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today rather than on trying tosolve the anticipated problems of the future.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statementand explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain howthese considerations shape your position.
如果不及时解决immediate problems of today,可能会引发更多的anticipated problems of the future,会导致恶性循环,这也不是所有人愿意看到的。
