  1) Archibald Motley’s artistic talent [A] was apparent [B] by the time him [C] enrolled [D] in high school.

  2) Legends often contain an element [A] of fact, but [B] sometimes it is [C] totally [D] untrue.

改为they are.C处代替的是“Legends”而不是“an element”。

  4) A错。 改为me.

  5) A错。

  (1)用来连接两个并列概念的连接词有and, not only…but also…, neither…nor…

She not only said so, but also did so.

  (2)表示在两者之间选择一个,常用的连接词有or, otherwise, or else, either…or…等。

例如:You should hurry up or you will miss the train.

He is very young, but he can do a lot of things.

I went to see him, for I had something to tell him.

I went to see him because he was ill.

It’s raining, so we have to stay at home.
